About Us

Over millions of years, erosion has occurred to the southern part of the Appalachian Mountains which is one of the oldest mountain chains in the world. This has exposed a small 3 acre spot full of some of the widest variety quartz crystals in the world, known as Diamond Hill! Some of the best Amethyst, Smoky, Skeletal(Elestial), Angle Plated, Iron & Manganese Oxide coated, Aura, and other crystals are found here! Other minerals including Beryl, Garnet and Epidote have also been recovered!

Enjoy our collection of images and videos to learn more about the hidden wonders you can find here.

Digging at Diamond Hill

At the Diamond Hill Mine, you will have a rare opportunity to collect your own crystals! We do not “salt” the piles. They are “unsalted,” meaning everything you will find actually came from this mine. Due to the large equipment used while digging veins, many pieces are lost or missed. You will have about 5-6 acres of dump/spoil piles to search through. Or, you may search for a vein but this method is much harder style and can or cannot pay off. We have 6+ acres of dirt that is loaded with quartz crystals to surface collect or to dig through.

We cannot guarantee amethyst, as it is harder to find, but many guests leave with some beautiful purple amethyst. Visit our picture page on Facebook to see some of the most recent finds by visitors.

Additionally, we would like to note that we are not a general quarry that can be used for landscaping purposes. In efforts to keep the Diamond Hill Mine resourceful for all visitors, guests are not allowed to load trucks with more than two large rocks. Thank you for your cooperation!
